- Medicinal
Botanic Centre:
The aims and objectives of centre are to carry out
botanical and chemical survey of medicinal plants for various
uses, studies on the isolation techniques in order to develop
better methods of isolation and indigenous technology, to set
up quality control standards in order to standardize the
indigenous herbal pharmaceutical industry, to develop new
processes and products based on indigenous raw materials, to
undertake experimental cultivation of medicinal and aromatic
plants in appropiate ecological zones in order to get qualitative
and quantitative improvement, to improve the quality of
herbs by genetic and plant breeding methods, to introduce new
plants Stevia sp, to undertake any developmental and promotional
on medicinal and aromatic plants.
- Food
Technology:
The food technology Division was
established in 1959 with the following objectives in view i)
Development of processes for the economic utilization of
indigenous food raw materials and the utilization of wastes of
the food processing industry. ii) Providing technical
assistance and advisory services to food industry. iii)
Providing adhoc analysis facilities to the industry as well as
private sector. iv) Furnishing scientific and technological
support for the development of food industries based on
indigenous food raw materials.
The Division consists of i) Food Microbiology section. ii)
Fruit Process Development section. iii) Food Processing
Section. iv) Food Bio-chemistry and Analytical Section. v)
Food and Nutrition Section. vi) F. T. Pilot Plant Section.
- Material
Science Division:
Owing to the recent progress towards
sophisticated and knowledge-concetrated industries of many
fields, the importance of material science and technology is
increasing year by year as a key technology for the overall
technological innovation and break through. Taking into
consideration was established in December 2001 aiming at the
identification and development of new materials and their
instrumental measurements.
- General
Services Division:
The workshop at
PCSIR laboratories Peshawar has been providing services in the
field of R & D activities. The major objectives of this
division are the design, fabrication and installation of
various pilot plants and equipments. Beside R & D work,
sophisticated machinery has been developed in the workshop for
semi commercial solvent extraction unit, bread making and
printing industries. Technical and evaluation services are
extended to public and private sectors. The specification of
reflective type vehicle number plates introduced by the excise
and taxation department in the entire NWF Province has been
undertaken by this division. The division also plays an
important role in up-keeping various utilities, machines and
equipments of PCSIR Laboratories, Peshawar.
