Pak
Swiss Training Center, (PSTC) was
established by Pakistan Council
of Scientific and Industrial
Research (PCSIR) in collaboration with Swiss
Foundation for technical Assistance in 1965
to impart training in Precision Mechanics and
Instrument Technology. The Center later on
progressed and was expanded
to cope with the demand of the
Industries.
Besides training, Centre is extending its
professional services to the local industries such as,
a full fledged Industrial Services
division was established.

| FUNCTIONS |
| Broadly
stated the functions of the PSTC are |
 |
To
generate highly skilled manpower, which
interfaces between technical, personnel and
engineers by imparting training
in precision engineering and thereby
serve the industry in a sector.
|
 |
Providing
advisory and consultancy service to Federal agencies,
provincial governments, and private industrial units. |
 |
Providing
consultancy and service to the
industry through die, mould and fabrication
technology and undertaking trouble shooting jobs at

 |
The
centre since its inception has registered considerable
growth, recording a steep rise in the number of
applications for admission received
from all over the country. The centre
was originally designed to offer
a three year course in
instrument technology, but in view
of the growing requirement of
trained personnel in the industry,
the scope of the courses of training has been
widened with the introduction of two advanced courses
in industrial electrics and optical
technology. It has also established a
new section for training in dies
and moulds designing
and manufacturing, and the centre now runs a
four-year advanced course in dies and moulds making. |
